AMIS Maliga Ligayang Palaro 2025–2026: A Celebration of Friendship and Sportsmanship
The AMIS Maliga Ligayang Palaro 2025–2026 marks a meaningful return of a beloved sports tradition at Al Majd International School (AMIS). Led and organized by Mr. Diosdado Memay, this exciting event will officially open on December 19, 2025, at the Al Majd International School campus.
A Tradition Reborn
Originally organized prior to and during the challenging times of COVID-19, the Maliga Ligayang Palaro served as a unique way to bring the AMIS community together through sports. After a period of pause, the event is now being revived—not just as a competition, but as a reunion of parents, students, and the school community.
This comeback symbolizes resilience, unity, and the enduring value of togetherness that sports can bring, even after difficult times.
Teams and Participants
The league will feature a total of six (6) teams, composed of:
Four (4) teams of parents, and
Two (2) teams of school varsity players
This diverse mix encourages interaction across generations, allowing parents and students to share the court, learn from one another, and build stronger bonds beyond the classroom.
More Than Just a Game
The AMIS Maliga Ligayang Palaro is not solely about winning or losing. It stands as a symbol of friendship, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among parents whose children are studying at Al Majd International School. Through friendly competition, participants foster mutual respect, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
The event also strengthens the school–parent relationship, creating a supportive environment where families feel more connected to the school community.
Looking Ahead
As the opening day approaches on December 19, 2025, excitement continues to build among participants and supporters alike. With strong leadership from Mr. Diosdado Memay and the shared enthusiasm of parents and students, the AMIS Maliga Ligayang Palaro 2025–2026 promises to be a memorable season filled with joy, unity, and lasting friendships.
This league is more than a sports event—it is a celebration of community, a reunion of friends, and a testament to the spirit of AMIS.
Addressing Team Selection and Sportsmanship
During the team selection process, a minor misunderstanding arose when a few players and team members did not fully agree on the proposal of four alumni players teaming up in the same lineup. To ensure fairness, transparency, and harmony within the league, the organizing committee facilitated a formal votation among the team's head member of the committee. Following the decision of the majority, it was agreed that the alumni players would not participate in Season One. Instead, they will be given the opportunity to play in a special exhibition game, with a clear plan to include them officially in Season Two. This decision reflects the league’s commitment to unity, mutual respect, and sportsmanship, placing the spirit of the game above individual interests.
